Staycation Adventure : Senckenberg Museum

This week we had a bit of a “staycation” to celebrate the end of my new favorite month…May!  Why is it my favorite you ask?  Well, in Germany there are MANY holidays during this month.  This year, we had a total of 4 holidays and 2 bridge days.  Often when a holiday here is on a Thursday or Tuesday you don’t have to work the day between the weekend and the holiday.  It’s a rough life!

We have often leveraged long weekends to travel to other cities (like Berlin…I LOVE Berlin!) but this time, all we wanted to do was stay home.  It was wonderful.  It has been so long since we have just had some time to enjoy & relax!

On Monday we travelled by train into Frankfurt for the day to visit the Senckenburg Museum and the Kleinmarkthalle (a story for another post!).  Our house is about a 5 minute walk from a train station, so when going into the city it is our preferred method of travel.

The Senckenburg is a Natural History Museum, and is famous for having lots of dinosaurs and a special animal exhibit which you will see below that scares me a bit.

It was my first time there and I loved it! Though, as I walked through all I could think of was how much fun it would be to have my brother’s kids there. I could just hear them telling me all the things they know about the dinosaurs and animals…boy do I miss them!

All in all…a fun day exploring Frankfurt a bit! Tchüss! Bis später!
